Additional info: I don't like super dry wines or tart wines.|||if you don't want to go super dry or tart - try going with a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir - something from a cooler climate - if you want a red (will go well with a cheese sampler)
if you want a white and don't want to ultra dry - you can go with a muscat - some are very sweet - others slightly acidic with a little bite - they're pretty versatile - and you can seem knowledgable about it by having a "little" info - and asking your server some paticular questions.|||why would you pick him,he suggested red and the 3 industrey professional recomended white,muscat ottanel is hard to find and dry with acid ,we all agreed on pinot gris/grigio,gwertraminer,or reisling

|||try a gewuerztraminer, it goes well with a variety of cheeses, and it will also compliment the chicken salad.|||What adds an elegant touch is a white called pinot grigio, Santa Margherita. It has a light fruit, exc nose and clean finish;goes great with what you described and is not at all tart and only slightly dry, hence the clean finish. By all means, do the wine selection, if they do not stock it then ask them to provide something close. You are in a win-win situation.|||That would depend upon what you plan on eating.|||I'm not a wine expert, but found that pinot noir is usually a good choice for me...most people like it, it goes with many foods, and not to dry or tart....just right.|||you want white wine,so,try a pinot gris or reisling look for a 1 on the sweet scale,mabye a nice gwertztraminer|||you cannot go wrong with a nice glass of bubbly. it is light, goes with all sorts of food. Usually if I am out having lunch if I don't have bubbly, I would normally have a white wine, like sauvignon blanc,pinot grigio or viognier. I don't like heavy reds at lunch time. espeiclaly if you are having roasted chicken.
