I want a suggestion for a good wine to buy for a romantic evening?

I am going out with my wife Friday night and would like to buy a special wine that is better than a $10 bottle of beringer. She likes white wines and some reds but not white zinfendales. So I am at a loss as to what to buy. I would really like some suggestions on "good" wines to buy since we are not wine connoisseurs.|||Reislings are great if she likes whites. They tend to range from semi-sweet to dry. They have a crisp taste that goes great with most meals. Try Fox Run Reisling or Hazlitts Reserve Reisling 2004 or 2005. NOT 2003, it sucks. If you are leaning to reds, try a Pinot Noir from Williamette Valley. It runs about $15-$18 a bottle.|||Freixinet is a very reasonable sparkling wine like Champagne

http://www.freixenet.com/|||Try a really nice bottle of pinot noir. See what pinots are on the wine list and ask for a recommendation. Pinot noir pairs well with a much wider variety of foods than all other reds. Also..this is important...A really good pinot noir is an incredibly sexy tasting wine. Have yourself a great evening.|||Try a Cabernet. Australia is coming into the wine market strong.|||My favorites are Trefethen and Plumpjack Cabernets. You really can't go wrong with either of those.|||II don't know much about whites, but for red, I'd try a cabernet, merlot can be too strong if you aren't used to it. A couple good ones for under $25 - Sterling Cabernet (not the Vinter's Collection), Beaulieu Vineyards (I'm spelling it wrong but commonly called BV) is good, Fezter and Kendall Jackson make a nice cab too. La Crema and Laticia make a really good Pinor Noir - and light enough for most cab lovers. The more expensive the better, don't be fooled by words like "Vinter's Collection".|||Try Orogeny!! It's a great Pinot Noir.
